Broadcast Solutions delivers new Ultra HD outside broadcast fleet to TRT
Largest single OB contract to date, made in Germany
TRT is a major producer of content as well as broadcaster and has always maintained a large inventory of outside broadcast vehicles.
Broadcast Solutions, a leading systems integrator and provider of innovative solutions for the broadcast media industry, is completing a contract to build eight outside broadcast units for TRT, the national public broadcaster in Turkey. The project, for two very large trailers and six mid-size rigid chassis trucks, is the largest single order for outside broadcast units yet accomplished by Broadcast Solutions.
TRT is a major producer of content as well as broadcaster and has always maintained a large inventory of outside broadcast vehicles. With significant events coming up, including major European football competitions and a critical NATO summit in Ankara in July 2026, TRT looked for a major refresh of the fleet.
“We needed a technical partner with a real depth of knowledge and experience in systems integration and outside broadcast manufacture,” said Alperen Aydin, CTO of TRT. “Broadcast Solutions had these skills, and they also demonstrated their understanding of the philosophy behind these projects.”
“We embarked on this with a shared and uncompromising commitment to excellence,” Aydin said. “Together we have been deliberate and thorough in each phase. The result is an infrastructure that places TRT firmly at the top of the industry in the region.”
The two trailer units are scaled for up to 23 Ultra HD cameras, including slow motion and ultra slow motion and the six rigid chassis trucks are made for up to 12 UHD cameras.
TRT is making a strategic transition from SDI to IP connectivity across all of its technical operations. To ensure flexibility, the new vehicles were designed from the ground up to be hybrid, operating with 12G-SDI as well as IP.
“This was a very important project for all parties involved,” said Wladislaw Grabowski COO of Broadcast Solutions. “TRT wanted us involved from day one to ensure we delivered the most technically secure and operationally convenient production spaces and ensured we had the time to get everything right. That is why it has been such a successful and satisfying project.”
Aydin added, “Every technical decision made in this collaboration with Broadcast Solutions was driven by one purpose: far greater flexibility and redundancy, superior output quality and more dynamic production capabilities translating into content that is more engaging, more consistent and more reflective of the trust our audiences place in TRT.”
The contract was signed in September 2024, with all eight vehicles to be delivered within two years. The first trailer unit – the most challenging – was on the road within eight months. Today the fleet is delivering day in, day out across sport, entertainment and events. Football fans worldwide are appreciating the quality of the new trailer units as they are used to cover the European football competitions.
