est & measurement innovator Leader Electronics of Europe, has announced the launch of its latest range of handheld signal generation, analysis and monitoring technology, the Sx2 Series. Building on the success of the hugely popular PHABRIX Sx Series, the new line – which will be showcased on the Leader Electronics of Europe stand at IBC2026 (10.C01) – constitutes the next era of advanced video and audio T&M equipment, perfectly calibrated to support today’s 12G-SDI, 4K UHD and HDR workflows.
Developed with the trusted engineering heritage of both Leader and PHABRIX, the Sx2 Series comprises the Sx2 portable 12G-SDI 4K/UHD generation, analysis & monitoring instrument, and the Sx2E portable 12G-SDI 4K/UHD generation, analysis & monitoring instrument with advanced physical layer analysis. Providing enhanced processing power, expanded functionality and a redesigned intuitive touchscreen interface, the Sx2 Series enables engineers and operators to work efficiently and maintain the highest standards of signal quality across manufacturing, production, post-production and broadcast facilities.
A number of key features are common to both models in the Sx2 Series, including full 12G-SDI and 4K UHD capabilities. The 12G-SDI support delivers the bandwidth and performance required for high-resolution, high-bandwidth media workflows, whilst the enabling of 4K UHD signal analysis over a single coaxial interface simplifies setup and ensures uncompromised signal integrity and accuracy. This capacity reflects developments across the media and broadcast landscape, where demand for 12G-SDI monitoring is growing alongside the adoption of UHD.
The Sx2 products also take the famously easy-to-use operation of the original Sx Series to a new level with a modern touchscreen interface that supports faster, more efficient workflow navigation. The impressive new UI allows control of the instrument using the responsive touchscreen or precision rotary control – affording the flexibility to work comfortably in any environment. In addition, an integrated speaker enables convenient audio monitoring, while configurable screen layouts mean it’s possible to create up to eight custom templates, each displaying three or four instruments.
Designed for extended operation in the field, the Sx2 combines enhanced battery performance with USB-C charging to keep engineers working for longer. Its high-capacity rechargeable battery delivers increased operating time, while the swappable battery design enables depleted batteries to be replaced in seconds, helping to minimize downtime during testing. From on-location deployments and OB trucks to broadcast facilities, the Sx2 provides the flexibility, endurance and reliability engineers need to keep test and measurement workflows running uninterrupted.
The new handheld products also include a comprehensive suite of analysis and generation tools – including everything for detailed monitoring and troubleshooting of SDI signals – as well as ancillary data monitoring, with ANC status and payload inspection, on-screen decoding of OP47, CTA-608 embedded within CTA-708, and native CTA-708 closed captions, plus Ancillary Time Code (ATC) display.
The Physical Layer Toolset, which is available as standard on the Sx2E only, offers fast 12G/6G/3G/HD/SD-SDI physical layer commissioning, testing and development. Its RTE™ (Real-Time Eye) Technology instantly highlights any SMPTE compliance issues and real-time SDI jitter window provides simultaneous monitoring across five specified frequency bands, jitter histogram and video trigger options.
In addition, both models in the Sx2 Series feature an optional SX2-HDR software license, containing a comprehensive HDR toolset, including signal generator, Luma false color highlight or heat map, waveform monitor and vectorscope. All the main live production SDR and HDR formats are supported: Standard Dynamic Range (SDR), BT.709, BT.2020 as well as HDR BT.2100 HLG, PQ, Sony S-Log3 and SR Live.
The Sx2 Series is not a replacement for the Sx Series, which will continue to be supported by Leader.
Commenting on the significance of the new range, Leader Electronics of Europe CEO Hiroshi Kajita says: “With 12G-SDI and 4K UHD increasingly becoming a default choice across broadcast, media and related manufacturing, we know that engineers and technicians need test and measurement tools that keep pace with the demands of their everyday workflows. The Sx2 Series has been developed with our customers at the heart of the process. We have listened carefully to their feedback, understood how they use our Sx products in the field, and focused on delivering the capabilities, performance and usability they have told us they need. Building on the trusted technology and expertise of our acclaimed Sx range, the Sx2 Series is ultimately about giving our customers the right tools to work with confidence as workflows continue to evolve.”
