Panasonic unveils groundbreaking remote camera controller that’s set to revolutionise operator workflows, featuring Panasonic’s first-ever macro functionality, dual joystick control, and seamless peripheral integration.

Panasonic Connect Europe today announced its new next-generation remote camera controller, the AW-RP200GJ, designed to streamline operations for large-scale, multi-camera productions. Scheduled for release in Q1 CY2026, the AW-RP200 builds on the acclaimed usability of its AW-RP150 predecessor, introducing a suite of innovative features including Panasonic’s first macro capabilities, dual joysticks, and enhanced support for complex multi-camera workflows.

André Meterian, Managing Director for Europe, Russia/CIS, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), Broadcast & ProAV, comments: “The AW-RP200 remote camera controller has been thoughtfully engineered to address the evolving needs of modern video production environments. As content creators increasingly seek more dynamic and complex shooting capabilities such as seamless integration with robotic arms, synchronised multi-camera setups, and precision control across diverse platforms, this controller delivers the flexibility and sophistication required to meet those demands. By enabling streamlined workflows and empowering operators with intuitive, high-performance tools, it significantly enhances production efficiency and elevates the creative potential and overall value of video content.”

The main innovations of the AW-RP200 include:

Macro Functionality for Enhanced Operability

A first for Panasonic remote camera controllers, macros allow operators to automate sequences and complex tasks such as controlling multiple cameras simultaneously or executing preset actions with a one-touch execution. Operators can even manage other cameras while a macro is running, delivering efficient production with minimal staffing.

In addition to the primary joystick for pan, tilt, and zoom or focus, the AW-RP200 features a second joystick on the left side. This dual setup enables simultaneous control of different functions, offering intuitive multitasking and highly responsive operation. Additionally, the controller includes 20 customisable buttons, each with its built-in LCD for clear mode indication. Functions such as camera selection, preset recall, and macro execution can be quickly accessed and accurately performed. It can control up to 200 PTZ cameras, making it highly scalable for large productions.

Streamlined, Intuitive Setup and Customisation

With its web-based configuration, operators can configure device settings via a connected PC browser, allowing for batch assignment of IP addresses and camera IDs. The intuitive interface also supports macro creation and custom button mapping, dramatically reducing setup time for large systems.

In addition, the AW-RP200 offers advanced and flexible input support with 3G-SDI, and it supports IP video input via NDI®* High Bandwidth and SRT. Video feeds from LAN-connected cameras can be monitored directly on the built-in LCD or via SDI OUT, improving on-site efficiency. Shortcut buttons provide quick access to frequently used functions, while cropping control allows for precision framing for PTZ cameras. The 7-type LCD monitor also provides high visibility touch-focus capabilities.
