SipRadius is bringing its unrivalled expertise in IP connectivity for media to BroadcastAsia 2025, where it is exhibiting with its SE Asia partner Elevate Broadcast (27 – 29 May, Singapore Expo, stand 5B4-1). SipRadius has recently established an office in Singapore, providing commercial and technical resources to the region.
SipRadius has developed a systems approach to today’s challenges of remote production, collaborative workflows and diffuse delivery. This is built on a strong foundation of a dedicated, media-focused operating system, supporting applications connecting through open standards. Visitors to BroadcastAsia will see how this approach consistently delivers high quality and low latency, with clear workflows and hardened security, without adding engineering complexity.
Utilizing SipRadius, broadcasters and producers can use the formats and standards they prefer, from SMPTE ST2110 and SDI to NDI and compressed IP, using open platforms like RIST. Networks can be quickly created for complex contribution links and for distribution, including to a very large numbers of users.
Because it is built from the ground up for media connectivity, SipRadius solves many of the key pinch points in IP connectivity. Establishing synchronized reference timing for remote production is seen as a major challenge. For example, SipRadius MRTC is an edge router for each node in the production, but it also acts as a local PTP master clock, drawing its reference from GPS or a cellular signal, providing synchronization with every other node with more than enough accuracy for broadcasting.
“The potential of IP connectivity to transform the way we make television is huge and exciting,” said Sergio Ammirata, Ph.D. founder and chief scientist at SipRadius. “We hear regularly from producers and media enterprises who are extremely keen to seize the creative and practical advantages, but worry that the potential for problems in interworking could derail their ambitions.
“At SipRadius we understand those concerns,” Ammirata continued. “We have developed modular units and software applications to meet all these challenges, and users can confidently build individual workflows and architectures using open standards. Customers can turn to us for advice at any time: we will always help users to assemble the right functionality in the most efficient way. The message we’re excited to deliver at BroadcastAsia is that we know how this new connectivity works – we are closely involved in developing the most advanced standards – and we can make it work for you.”
With cybercrime an increasingly worrying phenomenon, and the huge potential for damage to media users, SipRadius has built security considerations into every aspect of its technology. Content is protected with AES encryption and protected by SRP (Secure Remote Password). Where practical, distribution networks are implemented with nodes that do not need decryption and re-encoding, eliminating points of risk.
