TeamPeople is leveraging the Dejero GateWay network aggregation solution to ensure reliable and secure connectivity for its live and pre-recorded virtual event productions.
A range of industries and organisations depend on TeamPeople for virtual, hybrid and hosting services, including leading brands, broadcast television and digital news organizations, creative agencies, government agencies, gaming studios and educational institutions.
Trailblazers in the virtual production space, TeamPeople has adopted an all-IP infrastructure which is scalable, reliable, simple to configure, secure and provides low latency to its influential customers.
Many of the virtual and hybrid events forums built on TeamPeople’s TeamStream platform host conversations of national and global importance, where world leaders and government officials join virtually from remote locations.
“It’s vital that these important and intense conversations flow in a seamless manner; that nobody’s video freezes, speakers can be interpreted in real-time when required, and that the events take place within the allocated time,” explains Sarah Doyle, technical director of Virtual Services at TeamPeople.
“We’re effectively bringing people all over the world into our control room and on to a shared virtual stage.”
The Dejero GateWay M6E6 network aggregation solution provides the main firewall and back-up internet connectivity at TeamPeople’s HQ, which houses three IP-based control rooms where feeds, not only from cameras in studio or remote locations, but also platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex and Zoom, are decoded.
Private and public events can be live-streamed or recorded, from a combination of remote video conference platforms, TeamPeople’s studios in Washington D.C and from any other location where TeamPeople’s camera and production crews are deployed.
“GateWay offers us a resilience that we haven’t found anywhere else in the marketplace,” says Doyle.
“Because the 6-modem device aggregates networks from diverse carriers, it gives us complete confidence when it comes to connectivity.
“Should the dedicated fiber line dip below the bandwidth threshold, the GateWay will find another IP network instantaneously, like bonded cellular, and nobody would see any difference.”
The GateWay features Dejero’s Smart Blending Technology, which combines connectivity from all available local cellular and any other IP network providers.
This technology creates a virtual ‘network of networks’ to provide access to a far greater coverage area than any single provider can deliver. If for any reason, the fiber connectivity fails, the system can automatically reroute packets in real-time across other connection paths.
“We also chose the GateWay because of security assurances and ease of use,” continued Doyle. “Firewall rules can be incredibly prohibitive.
“In the past, accessing the internet, private networks and data secured behind corporate and government firewalls was often impractical without weeks of advanced planning to establish links, and network engineers to set them up.
“But, with GateWay opening up secure ports takes seconds.”
“With TeamStream, we’ve created a global medium to make important events more accessible to more people – whether that’s from a language perspective, hearing or sight perspective,” Doyle says.
“Working with partners like Dejero really helps us to push the envelope when it comes to technology that enables this accessibility, including cloud and AI.”
