Sky Group wins IBC2025 Innovation Award for its groundbreaking MediaMesh platform, the connective tissue driving collaboration, agility, and scalability across Sky’s global properties, powered in part by Telestream Qualify QC

Telestream congratulates Sky Group, which has been awarded the prestigious IBC Innovation Award for Content Distribution for its MediaMesh platform on Sunday, September 14th, during the annual awards ceremony at the IBC2025 Show. This recognition celebrates Sky’s transformative approach to content acquisition and distribution, powered by strategic technology partnerships with Telestream and other leading vendors. MediaMesh integrates cloud-native tools to deliver high-scale, efficient, and intelligent workflows across Sky Group’s European operations.

Developed to modernize aging infrastructure and streamline broadcast operations, MediaMesh consolidates ingest and distribution functions across Sky’s UK, Germany, and Italy divisions. Designed from the ground up and purpose-built for the cloud, it enables fast, flexible, and cost-efficient content processing at scale.

At the heart of this award-winning workflow is Telestream Qualify QC, a cloud-native automated quality control tool that ensures content integrity from the moment it enters the Sky ecosystem. Deployed within the SDVI Rally orchestration framework, Qualify enables Sky to validate media assets at the point of ingest, reducing operational overhead and significantly improving time-to-air.

“This award reflects the scale and ambition of Sky’s transformation,” said Ashley Ross, Principal Product Manager at Sky. “We’ve built a future-proof platform that brings automation, scalability, and intelligence to content workflows across Sky territories throughout Europe.”

The innovation lies not only in MediaMesh’s scale but in its cohesive, modular architecture. In addition to Telestream, the platform tech stack comprises:

  • AWS for AI-powered speech-to-text and OCR for language detection to aid localization

  • SDVI for dynamic orchestration of cloud and on-prem workflows

  • TMT Insights for unified monitoring and granular workflow analysis in an intuitive operations dashboard

This collaboration enabled Sky to optimize workflows, reduce false positives in QC, and dramatically cut operational costs, all while maintaining rigorous quality standards and compliance across multiple regions and content types.

“Sky’s MediaMesh platform is a showcase of what’s possible when vision and ambition meet best-in-class technology,” said Benjamin Desbois, Chief Growth and Strategy Officer at Telestream. “We’re honored to contribute to a solution that demonstrates how cloud-native QC and collaborative integration can redefine media distribution for the modern era.”

As part of its broader cloud transformation, Sky has moved large volumes of entertainment, sports, and promo content into MediaMesh. With over 10 million minutes of content processed annually, the platform supports parallel scaling and high-throughput automation across diverse media types and territories.

Sky’s continued evolution of MediaMesh reflects a wider industry shift toward unified, software-defined infrastructure. The success of this initiative positions Sky and its partners as innovation leaders in the future of content distribution.
