V-Nova, a leading provider of data compression solutions, video compression technology, XR technology, AI acceleration and parallel processing, is expanding its presence at IBC2024 from September 13-16 in Amsterdam.
For the first time, V-Nova will participate in the all-new IBC2024 AI Tech Zone, Hall 14, Location AI03. This feature area of the tradeshow explores the ways that AI is transforming the media and entertainment landscape with demos from leading technology companies. V-Nova’s presence at the AI Tech Zone will showcase how hierarchical data encoding technology accelerates AI vision applications. V-Nova will demonstrate how using SMPTE VC-6 can greatly benefit AI object detection and recognition.
The showcase will highlight a 5x increase in detection speed, which can make metadata tagging for media workflows much more efficient. The showcase will also explain how hierarchical and parallel data structures provide faster and more accurate inference, offer much faster training for new AI large multi-modal models (LLMs) and help move AI compute to the edge, which is a key factor for AI applications such as low-latency, real-time GenAI, intelligent edge applications, and robotics, among others.
The MPEG-5 LCEVC (Low Complexity Enhancement Video Coding) Showcase returns for the third year running, featuring support from V-Nova and over 40 other companies, and is located in Hall 5, at stands B40 and A24. The showcase will demonstrate interoperable solutions with LCEVC-enabled encoders, players and consumer devices across various use cases, including LCEVC-enhanced pixel streaming applications, which include content co-produced by the newly created V-Nova Studios in the Lumiere Award-winning V-Nova PresenZ cinematic 6DoF format. The showcase will cover five key areas:
· VR/XR and Cloud Gaming: Immersive cinematic-grade 6 degrees of freedom (6DoF) demos at the V-Nova pod hosted in collaboration with NVIDIA, using the V-Nova PresenZ format and streamed with LCEVC and
NVIDIA NVENC; showcasing a breakthrough that’s poised to rapidly unlock a latent multi-billion-dollar market for narrative media among existing XR users.
· Broadcasting and Pay-TV: A range of LCEVC-capable chipsets, set-top boxes and an LCEVC compatible Hisense TV, decoding LCEVC 4Kp60 10bit HDR content.
· Social media: LCEVC-enhanced apps for scalable multi-layer video delivery, lowering delivery costs, improving end-user experience and accelerating the deployability of latest-gen codecs.
· OTT Streaming: A showcase of LCEVC’s compatibility for in-app deployment on iOS, Apple TV, Android, and Web, providing top-quality streaming at minimal cost.
· Ultra-Low Latency for cloud gaming and pixel streaming: LCEVC enhances Kyber’s latest SDK, enabling remote display of demanding content at the lowest latency, lowest bandwidth, lowest cost and highest quality.
MPEG-5 LCEVC adoption will also be discussed at two conference sessions during IBC2024:
1. How hierarchical data encoding can accelerate AI by >5x: Guido Meardi, CEO of V-Nova; Sept 13, 14:30 CE Stage Hall 14 (14.C12)
2. Shaping the Future of Television: Reflections on the world’s largest summer sporting event, with a TV 3.0 Live Broadcast Showcase in Brazil – Fabio Murra, SVP of Product & Marketing at V-Nova; Sept 14, 14:30, CE Stage Hall 5 (5.A28)
