Media systems integrator Jigsaw24 Media has expanded its technical training provision by creating a selection of courses to support post-production workflows.

Their new offering includes both bespoke courses designed around a single client’s requirements for in-house teams, and scheduled training sessions that individuals can sign up for to learn about specific technologies or workflows.

All training is hands-on and in-person – either at the client’s facility or at Jigsaw24 Media’s training centre in London.

With over thirty vendor partners and dedicated in-house support and integration departments, the Jigsaw24 Media team holds an impressive array of qualifications and certifications across a range of technologies.

As such, the project delivery team has always provided clients with technical training as part of their professional services when implementing solutions or completing installations at post facilities.

Individual team members at the company also hold certifications as Avid instructors on the technical support curriculum, which means that Jigsaw24 Media can provide the training that engineers need to qualify as an Avid Certified Support Representative.

The launch of a formal technical training offering sees Jigsaw24 Media capitalising on these existing capabilities and making them available to the wider post-production industry.

The first series of training on offer plays to Jigsaw24 Media’s strengths as an Avid certified learning partner and their status as Avid’s global partner of the year and one of only two Avid Elite Partners in both video and audio in the UK.

Three courses centred around Avid workflows have been designed by the media systems integrator;

  • NEXIS shared storage technical fundamentals – a two-day technical fundamentals course designed to provide a solid grounding in Avid NEXIS shared storage.
  • Optimising media Composer for NEXIS workflows – a crash course that will help users identify and implement best practices for their shared storage workflow, whether they’re using NEXIS or an older Avid shared storage platform.
  • Avid MediaCentral production management – a two-day technical fundamentals course focusing on the operation of MediaCentral | Production Management, including its key components, integration with the wider MediaCentral ecosystem and third-party applications.

These training sessions are scheduled to take place on a quarterly basis, starting from November 2022 and are open for individual or group bookings.

The range of courses offered in this way will be expanded to include other vendors in the new year, with an EditShare course already planned for early 2023.

Jigsaw24 Media is now also offering bespoke training schemes designed around specific post facility’s requirements for in-house teams.

This follows a highly successful pilot and ongoing project where Jigsaw24 Media collaborated with Picture Shop to develop and deliver a training programme to fast-track the progression of entry-level post-production technical operators at the facility.

Similarly, the bespoke courses are tailored to each client’s technical estate and workflows so that teams are trained both on how to use the technology and the client’s specific application of that technology.

Customised courses are available on request with immediate effect.

“Our decision to launch a range of technical training courses was motivated by a number of different factors,” says Jigsaw24 Media strategy director, David Skeggs.

“Firstly, we recognised that there is a massive resource and talent shortage in the industry and that, with big engineering teams at post facilities and broadcasters becoming increasingly scarce, so too is the capacity for structured in-house training.

“We also believe that there is a gap between the creative application of technology that most universities and colleges focus on and the nuts and bolts of using that technology as part of an end-to-end workflow.

“By combining our team’s on-the-ground experience and technical qualifications and providing a range of courses to suit different needs, our new training provision is designed to help fill these gaps.”
