One of the most iconic religious landmarks in Brazil, the Basilica of Our Lady of Aparecida, has completed a significant upgrade to its communications infrastructure in partnership with Savana Comunicações and Clear-Com®, ensuring real-time communication across its vast campus using a hybrid of wired, wireless, and IP-based intercom systems. The relationship, originally initiated through Clear-Com’s Brazilian Partner, Savana Comunicação, began with a straightforward setup featuring an Eclipse® Pico digital matrix intercom, V-Series Iris™ panels, and wireless intercom systems. Over the years, this has evolved into a robust, IP-based communication network designed to support the future of live production.
The Basilica, known for welcoming millions of patrons annually, has steadily expanded its Clear-Com system. The station upgraded to the award-winning FreeSpeak® digital wireless intercom system, now operating approximately 35 FreeSpeak II beltpacks throughout its facilities. Additionally, Aparecida transitioned to an Eclipse Delta matrix and enhanced its performance with MVX-A16 audio interface cards, an IVC-32 IP interface card, and a broader deployment of V-Series Iris panels for improved workflow flexibility and user experience.
Further upgrading their intercom and audio networking capabilities, Aparecida implemented Clear-Com’s ProGrid® fiber-based infrastructure, allowing for scalable, low-latency signal distribution across their operations.
Aparecida is planning the next phase of their communications evolution by migrating all analog panels and E1-connected antennas to fully IP-based solutions. As part of this upgrade, Savana Comunicações, Clear-Com’s Partner in Brazil, is proposing the integration of the FreeSpeak II IP Transceiver (IPT) and FreeSpeak Icon™ connectivity platform to enable a fully intelligent, IP-connected intercom environment.
“Aparecida’s growth journey with Clear-Com is a perfect example of how a thoughtful and incremental approach to technology adoption can provide long-term value,” said João Pedro Homem of Savana Comunicações. “By evolving their system over time, Aparecida ensures both operational continuity and upgraded capabilities for their team.”
With a forward-thinking roadmap and strong technology partnerships, Aparecida continues to lead by example, demonstrating how broadcasters can scale and modernise their operations without compromise.
